Definition
AIMA is Portugal's Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum. It took over many migration functions previously associated with SEF and is now central to permit appointments, residence processing, and other immigration administration. Applicants moving under Portuguese work, remote-work, family, or entrepreneur routes will often encounter AIMA even when the first visa was issued through a consulate abroad.
