Definition
The Red-White-Red Card is Austria's core residence-and-work permit framework for third-country nationals moving for employment. It is not one single route with one rule set; instead, it contains several subcategories, including very highly qualified workers, shortage occupations, other key workers, and Austrian graduates. The permit is usually employer-tied at first and can later lead to the more flexible Red-White-Red Card Plus and then long-term settlement.
